Delineating perceived vertebrate remnants from the early Jurassic of Sweden

Abstract: The Triassic-Jurassic extinction, occurring c. 200 million years ago, resulted in the demise of approximately 30% of animal and plant life. Here our aim is, with the help of neutrons, to delineate the internal remnants of a remarkably preserved fossil shark egg case. This would be the first time such an object is being analysed using neutron tomography. The discovery of an indisputable shark embryo could breed future research into the reproduction and nursing strategies of extinct hybodont sharks.
