Probing the magnetic structure of BaPrO3
Abstract: The perovskite-type compound BaPrO3 crystallises in an orthorhombic structure due to the larger B site Pr4+atom. The magnetic property of these materials appears to vary according to sample quality, in particular according to the presence of excess oxygen present in the sample, which does not appear to change the structural property of the material. Based on powder neutron measurements that were previously collected on this sample, it has been predicted that a ferromagnetic component must be along the c axis, but so far there has been no single crystal available to check this prediction. We have grown the BaPrO3 single crystal for the first time and would like to probe the Pr4+ magnetism at different temperatures.
