Structural Investigations of Low Thermal Conductivity Materials

Abstract: We wish to exploit the ability of neutrons to locate light atoms in the presence of heavy atoms to investigate the structural properties of new defect pyrochlores with low thermal conductivity that are designed to act as thermal insulation in thermal batteries. Using ion exchange techniques, we have produced mixed ammonium-caesium materials [(NH4)1-xCsxTa1-yNbyWO6 0
