Inelastic Neutron Scattering Study of Crystal Field Excitations in Kondo lattice system CeRh2Ga2
Abstract: CeRh2Ga2, which crystallizes in a CaBe2Ge2-type primitive tetragonal (space group P4/nmm) structure, is found to exhibit Kondo lattice heavy fermion state without any magnetic ordering down to 2 K. Both electrical resistivity and heat capacity show an anomaly near 255 K. The origin of this transition is not clear, however, a structural transition seems to provide the key. Further, the electrical resistivity of annealed sample show an upturn at low temperature which has been proposed to have its origin in Weyl-Kondo semimetal behaviour. In order to understand the origin of this resistivity anomaly the information about the magnetic excitations is highly desired. We propose to carry out inelastic neutron scattering measurement on CeRh2Ga2 using MERLIN/MARI.
