Investigation of Spin Correlations in the Frustrated Anisotropic Distorted Triangular Lattice Antiferromagnet Na2CoGeO4
Abstract: Two-dimensional distorted triangular lattice antiferromagnetic (TL-AFM) spin systems show unique magnetic ground states as compared to their undistorted counterpart. However, the study of distorted triangular lattice is so far limited to J1-J2 models where J1 and J2 are the two non-equivalent nearest neighbour exchange interactions. Here, we propose a comprehensive neutron diffraction study on the distorted TL-AFM compound Na2CoGeO4, having three non-equivalent NN exchange interactions J1, J2, and J3, to determine the nature of magnetic ground state, as well as its temperature and field dependences by using the GEM diffractometer. The outcome of the present study will shed light on the magnetic correlations of a distorted triangular spin system beyond the J1-J2 model and is expected to open up a new direction in the frustrated spin-systems.
