Mixed surfactants under extreme conditions
Abstract: Previous experiments have shown effects of mixing ionic and non-ionic surfactants over a range of Ts at ambient conditions (RB2210186). The aim of this experiment is to study these systems under extreme Ts/Ps, to model in-engine conditions, using a specialised T/P cell loaned from ILL (pre-agreed between ISIS and ILL instrument scientists). This would explore novel concepts in colloids science. Using this specialised sample environment it will be uniquely possible to achieve ?iso-density? solvents (see Figure 1) which would enable us to access new solvent landscapes.
