Measuring the dynamics of a metal-organic magnet in the high field limit
Abstract: Metal-organic magnets have a huge amount of potential, they are cheap to make and extremely versatile. In the case of resonant structures, they tend to pi-stack, which can lead to some interesting low dimensional properties that do not receive the attention that they deserve. We seek to build on our current work on the charge transfer compound CuTCNQ; believed to be an antiferromagnet that orders at approximately 10 K. Previous muon spectroscopy data has allowed us to follow the transition as a function of field and the critical exponent differs depending on the model you use and the temperature range you fit over. Add to this that preliminary data in longitudinal field show an anomaly at approximately 9 K and some evidence at 8.5 K for 1D spin diffusion, more work is needed to fully understand the magnetism of the system.
