Magnetic excitations of single molecule magnet {Dy3Cr3}

Abstract: A new single molecule magnet {Dy3Cr3} has been discovered. It possesses a square hysteresis loop and is accordingly promising for magnetic data storage applications. It is crucial to study the intra-molecular interactions by means of inelastic neutron scattering and shed more light on the unprecedented magnetic behaviours of {Dy3Cr3}. INS is a direct and unique probe to determine the magnetic quantum levels by measuring the magnetic excitations. We propose to measure the low-lying magnetic excitations on LET and determine unambiguously the intramolecular exchange constants. The spin Hamiltonian will be established according to the INS results. With the INS results, we should be able to get more insight to the origin of the magnetic anisotropy of this single molecule magnet {Dy3Cr3}.
