Anomalous magnetism and spin dynamics in Se-substituted Co3Sn2S2
Abstract: The two-dimensional (2D) kagome lattice provides a geometry that can give rise to geometrical frustration or an antisymmetric Dzyaloskinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction, both of which are driving forces for some of the most exciting spin textures in condensed matter physics. The shandite-type metallic ferromagnet Co_3Sn_2S_2 is an ideal 2D kagome ferromagnet and displays intriguing magnetic behaviours, including coexisting in-plane antiferromagnetic and out-of-plane ferromagnetic phases and an anomalous A phase that might be due to noncollinear spin textures such as skyrmions. Here, we propose to measure Co_3Sn_2S_{2-x}Se_x, for x = 0, 0.4 and 0.8, using zero field and longitudinal field muSR, to study the spin dynamics that accompany the A phase, and to investigate the effect of substituting S for Se.
