Determination of the magnetic structure of the kagome-lattice antiferromagnet Nd3BWO9

Abstract: The exact nature of the spin-liquid ground state of the kagome-lattice antiferromagnet is still under intense debate. From an experimental perspective, the lack of suitable candidate materials for this intriguing state hampers further development of the research. We propose the investigation of a promising newly discovered material, Nd3BWO9, where existing studies support the existence of a proximate spin-liquid state on a slightly distorted kagome lattice. Determining the exact magnetic structure that this system develops at ultra-low temperatures will bring forth key insight on the physics of spin-liquid systems. Furthermore, we aim to study also its magnetic field dependence, which will help understanding the frustration mechanisms that lead to the peculiar ground state of Nd3BWO9.
