Understanding the Unusually Enhanced Moment in Coupled Helimagnet-Ferromagnetic Multilayer Hybrid Skyrmion Systems
Abstract: Searching for new types of magnetic skyrmions with reduced dimensions and enhanced stability is a key task on the road to topological information technology. Using resonant elastic x-ray scattering, we have recently observed a new type of hybrid composite skyrmion that exists in coupled helimagnet-magnetic multilayer systems. In fact, the well-established long-range order of the magnetic skyrmion crystal can be imprinted onto the usually unordered skyrmion system in the heterostructure. We have carried out anomalous Hall measurements on the metallic Co/Pt multilayers (helimagnetic Cu2OSeO3 is electrically insulating) and found a peculiar behaviour, which is accompanied by a dramatic change of the magnetic moment of Co (measured by x-ray magnetic circular dichroism). In order to gain some understanding of these interfacial effects, we propose to carry out PNR measurements.
