Investigation of the magnetic structure of the one dimensional spin-1 chain: PbCd2Ni6Te3O18
Abstract: Recently the one dimensional spin chain have attracted considerable interest in condensed matter. The antiferromagnetic Heisenberg spin chain with integer spin has a short-range magnetic order and an excitation energy gap, so-called Haldane gap. Recently, PbCd2Ni6Te3O18 has been reported having 1D spin chain of Ni2+ ions (S=1) along the c-axis in its hexagonal crystal structure. PbCd2Ni6Te3O18 exhibits a long range magnetic ordering at TN=25.7 K confirmed through the susceptibility and heat capacity. The susceptibility above TN exhibits a broad maximum at 40 K indicating a development of a short range correlations. As there are no reports on the magnetic structure of this compound, here we proposed to investigate its magnetic structure and short range magnetic correlations using WISH. We will prepare the sample using 114Cd isotope to reduce neutron absorption.
