Investigation of putative multi-k magnetic structure in Ce3TiSb5

Abstract: Ce3TiSb5 belongs to the material class of frustrated Kondo-lattice systems, in which the combination of geometrical frustration and Kondo screening can display quantum critical behavior. Recent studies revealed a complex magnetic phase diagram of Ce3TiSb5 with a number of successive transitions that are currently not understood. Notably, the compound features reentrant magnetic behavior: it has a magnetically ordered state that becomes disordered upon cooling. Our unpublished diffraction data at the thermal single-crystal diffractometer ZEBRA, at PSI, indicate the existence of possible multi-k structures that may have a non-trivial topology. However, the data are not conclusive on the multi-k nature of the structures. With this proposal, we aim to determine the magnetic structure in each of the phases and clarify the underlying mechanism, which leads to this reentrant behavior.
