General description of polyelectrolyte/surfactant spread films - 1 day of missing data on PEI/SDS films required to publish
Abstract: Polyelectrolyte/surfactant (P/S) films spread from the dissociation of aggregates at the air/water interface offer an efficient and robust way to develop new transfer applications. Poly(ethylene imine)/sodium dodecyl sulfate spread films exhibit distinct interfacial stoichiometries that can be controlled by the solution pH. We have studied this system on FIGARO and INTER using neutron reflectometry but are missing some data and critical repeats to go ahead with publication. An underlying reason is the presence of isotope effects, a topic often neglected and strongly in need of more insight by both the soft matter and neutron communities. Provision of 1 day on INTER would allow us to publish a benchmark paper delivering a global overview of spread P/S films with respect to the film compression, aggregate charge used in film preparation, and polyelectrolyte architecture and charge density.
