Determining Magnetic Order in the Intermediate Phase of LiYbO2
Abstract: Recently, a new frustrated antiferromagnet, LiYbO2, was identified and has attracted attention as it undergoes a series of complex magnetic phase transitions within its diamond lattice of Yb3+ moments. Previous powder neutron diffraction experiments show that below 450 mK LiYbO2 locks into a fully ordered incommensurate helical ground state. Above this, a partially ordered phase exists that is not understood. Here, we seek to determine the nature of this partially ordered phase and clarify the magnetic phase diagram of this system.
