Coherent background subtraction through polarisation analysis
Abstract: The diffusion of molecules confined within pores is of interest in catalysis, gas separation and molecular sieving. This can be measured using incoherent quasielastic neutron scattering, although there is often a significant coherent background from the host material. We want to develop a method where the coherent background can be removed through polarisation analysis to greatly improve quasielastic data analysis.
