Quasielastic Neutron Scattering of Superalkali-Alkalide Dynamics in Solution
Abstract: We have recently demonstrated the existence of ion-paired solutions of superalkali cations (alkali metal cations coordinated within high symmetry macrocyclic complexes) and alkalide anions (negatively charged alkali metal ions).1 This proposal aims to study the dynamics of these systems in their solution phase, taking advantage of the RRM capabilities of LET to study timescales on the order of molecular reorientation and diffusion. Results from these experiments will enable us to discern the effect of solvent concentration and pair-separation on the dynamics of the alkalide solutions.
