Neutron diffraction analysis for the characterization of copper alloy Roman finds
Abstract: We intend to analyze a set of Roman Age bronze fragments from 2 different excavation context from Central Italy to characterize their phase composition and metal microstructure in order to infer details about their manufacturing process. They are a set of 3 gilded bronze fragments from a Statuary group and a set of 2 mirror fragments from a burial site.Non invasive analysis is mandatory for their characterization and neutron diffraction can provide the most complete level of information.
