Neutron Diffraction Studies of x(R2O3)-(1-x)(TeO2) glasses with x= 0.025,0.05,0.075,0.1 and R=Ce,Pr and Nd
Abstract: Tellurite glasses are being explored for their properties like high refractive index, high dielectric constants and better range of infrared transmittance for applications in the field of optical, telecommunication, health care and solar industries. Mixing of rare earth ions in the tellurite matrix enhances these properties and also introduces magnetic moments making these glasses rich in physics. In view of important properties and applications of rare earth tellurite glasses, it is of fundamental significance to understand their local structure and network connectivity and its connection with their properties. The objective of this study is to understand the role of local environment of rare earth ions in tellurite glass matrix how they affect Te-O network in tellurite glasses as a function of increasing concentration. Total neutron diffraction experiments help us in this endeavour.
