Studies on Novel Frustrated Quantum Magnets: Ba2YbMO6 (M = Nb, Ta) via muon spin rotation
Abstract: Frustrated systems, where spins are prevented from ordering collinearly because of the geometry of interactions, have attracted interest because of the emergent phenomena related to noncollinear spin arrangements and degenerate ground states. It has been proposed that the degenerate nature of the ground states in some frustrated systems can be broken by quantum fluctuations and host nontrivial topological states. In particular, the quantum Kitaev face-centered-cubic (FCC) system is suggested to have gapless pseudo-Goldstone modes and a Weyl node in its magnon band. By measuring the spin waves of quantum Kitaev FCC candidate system, Ba2YbMO6 (M = Nb, Ta), we want to demonstrate this nature.
