KYbS2: the candidate material for Dirac quantum spin liquid
Abstract: We seek to perform ZF and LF muSR measurements on KYbS2 at 0.1 K in order to prove the formation of a quantum spin liquid in this material. Our comprehensive thermodynamic measurements suggest that it may be the very first example of a Dirac quantum spin liquid. However, weak anomalies observed at 0.25 K and 0.5 K may indicate magnetic ordering or spin freezing. The proposed muSR experiment will help us to rule out these possibilities and will strengthen our case for the very first experimental study on thermodynamics of the Dirac quantum spin liquid. We propose to perform this measurement as part of the already scheduled experiment 2010184. No additional beamtime is requested, only the scientific case needs to be approved.
