Soil-Water-Root Interactions in Biochar-Amended Soils
Abstract: Neutron and X-ray imaging methods are highly complementary and using both methods will provide a comprehensive understanding of the soil-biochar-plant-water relationships. While both can provide root architecture at different spatial resolutions, the former is highly sensitive to soil moisture distribution, whereas the latter provides information about the soil pore size distribution in 3D. Thus, the overall aim of this proposal is to describe the physical and hydraulic behaviour of biochar-amended soils using these methods.
