Inelastic Neutron Scattering Study of the magneto-structural/volume couplings in MnCoGe compounds
Abstract: MnCo1-xNixGe-based compounds exhibit several interesting magneto-responsive behaviors, such as magnetic-field adjustable negative thermal expansion, enhanced magnetocaloric effect and anisotropic magneto-volume effects. In this proposal, we plan to measure both the phonon and magnon spectra across the magnetic/structural transitions. These information is helpful for us to understand the microscopic dynamic structures and their responses to the phase transitions.
