ISIS@MACH-Investigations on the use of epithermal neutron contrast-enhanced radiography as a diagnostic for reinforced concrete failures.
Abstract: We propose an exploratory, easy-to-setup experiment at VESUVIO aimed at investigating the possibilities offered by epithermal neutrons in the imaging investigation of iron rods into reinforced concrete. The experiment, conducted within the ISIS@MACH framework, will be accompanied by investigation through X-rays and it will be the basis for the future development of a project aimed at the realization of a mobile diagnostic system for the non-destructive, on-site investigation of reinforced concrete artifacts like buildings and bridges.
