Use of Negative Muons for elementary characterization of portuguese coin (1770-1791 for IAEA CRP nuclear techniques intercomparison
Abstract: The INFN has funded the CHNET_TANDEM experiment that is tasked with the research and development of non-destructive analytical techniques for cultural heritage. As part of this experiment a collaboration with LENA reactor of University of Pavia for the development, in Italy, of a Prompt Gamma Neutron Activation Analysis facility, has provided the opportunity to participate in an IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) Coordinated Research Projects (CRP) The expected benefits of the participation in the Coordinated Research Programme on "Nuclear Techniques? would be:- quality control assessment and accuracy improvement of involved analytical techniques and procedures. - additional and valuable information about material under investigation with respect to it's chemical and morphological structure.- Establish the negative muon technique as an analytical standard.
