Looking at Phase Transitions in Molecular Multiferroics
Abstract: There is a huge interest in studying mutliferroic materials as one has the coupling of both electric charge and magentism. One emerging area within this field is molecular multiferroics or ones based on metal-organic frameworks, where the erthrosiderite family are recieving a lot of interest. We wish to use quasi-elastic neutron scattering to understand the order-disorder phase transiton that is believed to be due to the freezing of ammonium cation motion. Although there is very little information on what the actual motion is that freezes out, we believe our experiment can help answer this.
