Bulk Texture Analysis of Hot Forged ? Titanium alloy
Abstract: High strength to density ratio, excellent hardenability, hot deformability and better fatigue properties are the main attractive characteristics of ?-Titanium alloys. The phase transformations and variations in the associated properties in ?-Ti alloys made them to be attractive materials for making structural components for the aerospace industry. Titanium alloys developed for making critical components like landing gears by the hot forging route. The ? grains, which are harder as compared to globular ? phases, going to contribute for strength of this alloy at RT. The globular ? phase formed in the ? matrix promotes the ductility of the material. The knowledge of texture is essential in understanding hot workability of the alloy as well as to achieve desirable mechanical properties of final components manufactured.
