Understand alcohol diffusivity and the influence of framework topology of some selected zeolites on methanol to hydrocarbons reaction.
Abstract: Short-chain alcohols (methanol and ethanol) have been explored as part of renewable energy sources to satisfy the ever-growing energy demands of the world. Zeolites have been one of the most reliable catalysts in the conversion of short-chain alcohols to very useful products with vast applications in the chemical industry. We could mention BEA, FER, ZSM-5 as some of the most common zeolites that have been applied in catalysis, etc. However, the reason for the superior efficiency of ZSM-5 compared to FER has not been properly analyzed in the literature. This work attempts to understand the role of topography in alcohol conversion reaction by study the diffusivity of methanol molecules in FER at different temperatures.
