Local boron and oxygen structure in lanthanide orthoborates LnBO3
Abstract: We propose to carry out neutron total scattering on a series of five compounds with the formula LnBO3 (Ln = Y, Tb, Ho, Er, Yb). This will enable us to study the B--O distances and the local coordination environments of the B and O atoms, which we know to be disordered from previous experiments.
