Time-resolved SANS study of the phase transition dynamics in the skyrmion material Cu2OSeO3
Abstract: Skyrmions, nanoscale magnetic vortices, have garnered recent research interest due to their topological nature and potential technological applications. While the static properties of the skyrmion state are now well understood, the details of the mechanics governing their creation and annihilation are incomplete. Time-resolved SANS is ideally suited to probing the magnetic phase transitions in bulk chiral magnets. We propose to study the phase transitions between the skyrmion, conical and helical states in Zn-doped Cu2OSeO3, revealing the detailed mechanics behind the formation and destruction of the magnetic skyrmion lattice.
