Investigations of complex magnetic ground states of Ce2IrGe3 and Ce2PtGe3 compounds: Inelastic neutron scattering study
Abstract: Cerium based Ce2MX3 (M = d-electron element, X is a p-electron metal) Kondo lattice systems has received considerable attention due to its exotic magnetic ground states such as heavy fermion behaviour, spin-glass like behaviour etc. Ce2IrGe3 shows long-range ferromagnetic-like ordering below 4 K with enhanced specific heat and logarithmic temperature dependence of the resistivity at low temperature suggest strong electronic correlations. Both compounds behave like Kondo lattice at low temperature and show spin glass like behaviour. So it would be of utmost interest to investigate the CEF excitations in Ce2IrGe3 and Ce2PtGe3 compounds using inelastic neutron scattering to understand the complex magnetic ground states.
