Magnetic structure of the doped room temperature honeycomb magnet (SrCa)Ru2O6

Abstract: We propose the investigation of the magnetic structure in the room temperature magnet SrRu2O6 and its doped variants. Crystallizing in the honeycomb structure, these systems are remarkable in terms of their large magnetic transition temperatures. We have recently synthesized doped specimens of this ruthenate for the first time. We observe a dramatic change in their electronic properties as a function of doping, with only 10% of Ca substitution giving rise to a metallic antiferromagnetic state - one that is uncommon and also has enormous potential for a number of potential applications. We aim to investigate the evolution of the magnetic (and crystallographic) structure of these systems as a function of doping and temperature, to gain further insight on the structure-property relationships in these quantum materials.
