Magnetic structure and spin excitations in the magnetic Weyl heavy fermion compound CeBi2

Abstract: CeBi2 is a new magnetic Weyl heavy fermion compound which demonstrates the Kondo-type behaviour. It undergoes a transition to a complex antiferromagnetic ground state, and on theapplication of a magnetic field, a ferromagnetic-like state appears. Also, the magnetoresistancebehaviour of CeBi2 suggests the existence of non-trivial topological surface states (TSS) with aninverted band gap. So far, the spin dynamics of this magnetic Weyl semimetal are not explored byinelastic neutron scattering yet. Here we propose to investigate the anomalous spin excitations, especially linear Bosonic dispersion, related to the topological physics and spin-orbital coupling ofCeBi2 by inelastic neutron scattering experiments at the LET/MERLIN spectrometer. We will usesingle crystals of CeBi2 with dimensions of 6 x 2 x 1 mm.
