Spin Glass to Canted Antiferromagnetism in Pseudo-dipolar Pyrochlores
Abstract: Magnetic frustration is of topical interest due to the functional applications within the next generation of electronics. Pyrochlores have contributed significantly within this field, however, the defect fluoride pyrochlore system with the general formula AM2F6, where A is an alkali metal, and M is one or more transition metals, has surprisingly been understudied in comparison to normal pyrochlores, such as Tb2TiO7. We propose to use GEM or POLARIS to investigate the diverse magnetic behavior produced by different metals on the same Fd3m lattice as well as the change in magnetic ordering as a function of x.
