Charged nanogels and their ability to penetrate model lipid membranes
Abstract: Drug delivery through the skin is an important route for administration of therapeutic agents. However, the outermost layer of the skin, the stratum corneum provides a formidable barrier to dermal absorption and penetration of drugs or therapeutic agents. In this proposal we aim to investigate the interaction of charged cross-linked polymeric nanogels with a ceramide lipid multilayers and mixed lipid multilayers of ceramide lipid/cholesterol/fatty acid, designed to mimic the lipid organization of the human skin.
