Structural Investigation of Co-polymer and Comb-polymer Solid State Electrolytes for Li-batteries using SANS

Abstract: This proposal regards studies of the structure and morphology of polymer electrolytes which can be used in Li-batteries. These electrolytes are effectively used in electric vehicles, but the ionic transport is generally considered to be too low. Knowledge about the structure in these materials can aid future design, since the dynamic properties are intrinsically dependent on the structural properties - i.e., vital input can be given on how ions are transported. Here, we will invesitgate block-copolymeric and comb-polymeric materials which self-organize in hydrophilic and hydrophobic domains, and it will be decisive to obtain knowledge about the domain sizes and organisation. Therefore, SANS measurements can be a very powerful technique.
