Stress-assisted Martensite – Influence of martensite initiation mode on variant selection and subsequent work hardening rate
Abstract: The aim of the present proposal is to determine the influence of the different martensite transformation regimes (either stress-assisted or strain-induced) on the proceeding work hardening rate in austenitic stainless steels. Also, the effect martensite transformation have austenite matrix and further martensite transformation will be monitored. Ultimately, the results will be used towards identifying the most favourable austenite orientations to promote martensitic transformation inducing the maximum level of work hardening.
