Crystal structure of a new hexagonal layered cobaltate LaBaCoO4+y
Abstract: We have synthesized a new cobalte oxide compound. We know from preliminary measurements that its crystal structure is hexagonal, and that the magnetic behaviour is intriguing. The proposal is to perform powder neutron diffraction to determine the crystal structure precisely, and to search for evidence for magnetic behaviour at low temperature.
