Vibrational property analysis of NdGaH1+x using inelastic neutron scattering

Abstract: The proposed experiment at ISIS aims at the characterization of the vibrational properties of the novel hydrogenous Zintl phase NdGaH1+x by inelastic neutron scattering (INS). INS spectroscopy is especially sensitive to the vibrations of hydrogen atoms. It is hoped that INS spectra will give insight into the dynamic properties of H atoms in a peculiar structural feature, namely a disordered linear Ga-H chain, and provide understanding of its chemical bonding.
