The magnon density of states in NiPS3
Abstract: NiPS3 is an example of a low-dimensional magnetic system. It is potentially a 'model' magnet, meaning that it might be a good material to search for new phenomena that have been predicted by current theories of magnetism. This is certainly the case for the related compounds MnPS3 and FePS3 which, despite their similarity in structure, prove to show very different types of model magnetic behaviour. We now wish to measure the magnetic dynamics of NiPS3 to establish how close it is to being a model magnet, and to compare it to its siblings in the transition metal-PS3 family.
