In-situ neutron diffraction studies of LiCoO2 cathode material for Li-ion batteries
Abstract: LiCoO2 as cathode for Li-ion batteries suffers from a large capacity fading after extended cycling. The ordered structure (Li+ and Co3+ atoms occupy alternate (111) layers of the rock salt structure) undergoes several phase transitions during charge which cause structural degradation of the material. In fact, the structural stability of Li1-xCoO2 is maintained only for a limited compositional range 0
