Spin-orbit transitions in Co2V2O7
Abstract: We propose to investigate the magnetic fluctuations and spin-orbit transitions in Co2V2O7. This material is structurally related to CoV2O6 which displays cascading magnetization plateaus. This material contains Co2+ which has an orbital degree of freedom and we propose to measure the spin-orbit transitions and compare these to CoV2O6 previously investigated on MARI. The proposal requests 5 days on MARI.
