Interaction of lignosulphonates with model surfactant systems by neutron reflection
Abstract: With the biobased economy growing substantially and pressure to reduce reliance on palm and crude oil derived materials, it is vital that the Home and Personal Care industry develops frameworks for deploying sustainably sourced alternative materials. Lignin is naturally abundant and an integral part of the secondary structure of plant cell wall structure. It is often simply burned as a waste product. With such an abundance of this material it is beholding on responsible innovation to find applications for waste derived materials. Certain lignin derivatives are finding limited application in heavy industry and in crude oil recovery. Their properties are not well understood and this study is attempting to understand how they behave in an environment more close to Home and Personal Care, in order to assess their future potential for deployment.
