Encounter complex in solutions of frustrated Lewis pairs
Abstract: Hydrogen activation by frustrated Lewis pairs is currently among the ‘hottest’topics in homogenous catalysis. The aim of this proposal is to examine solutions containing both Lewis acids and Lewis bases, known to act as frustrated Lewis pairs in hydrogen activation, in order to study the mutual orientation and associations of the acid and base and to determine whether the presence of the ‘encounter complex' can be observed.
