Search for Weyl Magnon in LiGaCr4O8
Abstract: Weyl magnon in the chromium-based breathing pyrochlores is a recently predicted novel magnetic excitation state. Similar to its anolog, Weyl fermion in the electric systems, Weyl magnon refers to a topologically linear band touch in the spin wave spectrum of a magnetic ordered phase, making neutron scattering a natural method to probe this excitation. LiGaCr4O8 is a promising material to support Weyl magnon excitations, compared with the theoretical phase diagram. Thus, the spin wave spectrum is worth being measured. A linear touch of two spin wave branches is expected to appear at certain (Q, E) position in this experiment, and the temperature dependence of Weyl magnon excitations will also be studied. For this experiment, we are going to apply for MERLIN for 6 days.
