Laser-induced electron transfer in Trp-Tyr
Abstract: We wish to perform longitudinal field measurements on the dipeptide Trp-Tyr under laserexcitation, to probe the electron transfer process within the molecule. We have already performeda proof of principle experiment using a flashlamp on Argus. A previous attempt with laser excitation was not successful due to radiation damage to the sample. We are developing a continuous flow sample handling system to overcome this problem. The ability to measure ET processes in peptides with spatial resolution could lead to major breakthroughs in fields spanning from biomedical sciences to energy production.
