SANS experiments on phase separation in Fe-Cr based alloys

Abstract: Low temperature embrittlement of stainless steels is due to phase separation and in this proposal we will further investigate the underlying mechanisms for phase separation. More specifically we our data will provide vital input for improving computer simulations of the phenomenon, which can be used for novel design of alloys and life-assessments of current materials.
