Chain Conformations of Monodisperse PMMA Spinning Solutions
Abstract: In this proposal we seek time to study the chain conformation(that is the way a polymer chain is arranged) in the solution state on a narrow molecular weight distribution PMMA. This study will allow us to compare the chain conformation in the solution state for a polymer with to those found in nanoscale fibres. Thus we will able to observe any retention of molecular conformation ‘frozen’ in from the solution state during the rapid fibre forming process in for example electrospun fibres. The studies will provide insight into polymer chain organisation in fibre formation and thus facilitate additional control of fibre properties.
