In-situ neutron powder diffraction study of the synthesis of Half-Heusler thermoelectric materials
Abstract: XNiSn (X = Ti, Zr, Hf) Half-Heusler materials are potential candidates for application in thermoelectric waste heat recovery. The aim of the experiment is to follow the formation of these compounds from elemental precursors using neutron powder diffraction. This will shed light on how these solid state reactions proceed. This information is important as the synthesis of phase pure samples of these materials remains challenging.
