Low-energy spin fluctuations and possible continuum in MnSb2O6
Abstract: The proposal requests time to investigate the powder averaged spin fluctuations in a high spin=5/2 triangular magnet MnSb2O6. This investigation will be an important first step towards performing single crystal measurements planned for triple-axis spectrometers. The system is a multiferroic and is magnetically and structurally chiral. Its counterpart (langasite) also displays an interesting continuum of excitations despite the classic nature of the Fe3+ moments. This continuum was first observed on a powder using MARI illustrating the importance of this study for future experiments.
